Things I hear....continued

I am starting to chronicle different things I hear as a youth pastor. Because one day I will probably compile it into one long blog...or maybe a book.

6th grader: If you were in heaven and you were playing soccer with God and with Jesus who would you do you think would win?

Me: I don't know...that is an interesting question

6th grader: I think Jesus would.

Me: Why?

6th grader: Because Jesus is more "youthful"

Super random,dorky X-men post

I did not grow up watching x-men or into comics. I have really enjoyed the X-men movies. I think I am about as hairy as wolverine. Some would even say as sexy. (by some I mean those that would say anything for 20 bucks)

My problem with the movie is that I always find myself hoping the "bad guys" will win.
Not because they are cooler. Because they are right. Let me some up the conflict:

X-men goal: for regular humans and mutants (people with special powers) to co-exist peacefully and joyfully as they are.

"Bad-guy" mutant goal: to wipe out regular humans or make them mutants (give them special powers)

The reason the "bad guys" are right is this:

They believe that with such obvious differences it is impossible for peace. A good majority of Regular humans will always feel inferior, jealous, threatened. And a good majority of Mutants will always feel Superior, and naturally assert themselves over regular humans. I think that is a correct assumption. It is the very nature of evolution.

What is the point of this blog? I don't know...evolution sucks?

Til Death

Years of prayers are just 12 short days away from being answered. On March 1st before God, Family and Loved ones I will be getting married. I have been waiting (some times patiently....usually not) on God to bring the woman he has for me to marry.

Elizabeth is a dream come true. She is the absolutely sweet, patient, kind, gentle, full of Love and Beauty. I love her so much and can not wait to see what God does in our marriage.

In a world full of broken relationships, and families... we long for God to shine His plans and purposes for the covenant of marriage through us.

I am terrified at my lack of ability to love LizBeth to the level that Christ loved his Church. At the same time I know he is faithful to do it through me if only I will die to myself and allow him to Love her through me.

I am not naive about the struggles ahead. The enemy hates marriage. Marriage is the best picture of Christ love for His Church. He wants to destroy our understanding of such an intense picture of oneness and intimacy with Christ.

With Gods help Lizbeth and I long to shine that picture and that Love brightly. That is not a responsibility that any married couple should take lightly as they strive to build their relationship on the foundation of Christ...the one true immovable rock.

It is not our hope to merely survive our marriage and avoid being a divorce statistic. We long to thrive. To taste and see God's goodness and His plan for this Holy covenant.

God keep us willing. Excited. Desperate for you.

Why?

I had an interesting conversation with a member in my church. My friend Grace who helps with the youth group was showing me an add an organization was trying to get played during the super bowl. NBC would not air it.

After viewing the add

I was laughing at how they used President Obama in a Pro-life ad. I said that this was ironic to me because he is so Pro-Abortion.

A wonderful lady in my church overheard and wanted to set me straight as to the correct terminology to use.

She instructed me to use the terms Pro-Choice and Anti-Abortion. She informed me that President Obama is not Pro-abortion....he is Pro-Choice...and apparently there is a difference.

Basically you can be for a mothers choice to violently murder her children and still be against the murder...you just want her to have the right to do it. I did not follow. I still don't.

And Pro-Life was inaccurate because a lot of people who are against abortion are for capital punishment. Wanting to see Babies saved and murders punished....well that means you are not pro-life.

She began to share how she views that as very hypocritical. (Not the first time I have heard this ridiculous argument.) I think it is really humorous when people who are Pro-Abortion and Anti-Capital punishment want to accuse Pro-Life people of being hypocrites.

Let me get this straight....I want to save innocent babies and kill guilty murderers and you want to kill innocent babies and save guilty murderers and I am the hypocrite?!?!?

Can someone please explain this to me?

Why does the President see abortion as "a deeply moral issue" and yet is still for it. Constantly voting for abortion legislature?

Listen if abortion is not the murder of an innocent baby than what does morality have to do with it? If a fetus is just human tissue and not a human being...than women should be able to have an abortion like clipping their fingernails.

But if it is the murder of a human being than yes it is a moral issue indeed!

I do not care what a person's reason for believing in abortion...it almost always changes when you ask the question...what if the baby were 5 years old? If you believe that a woman's "right" to choose changes....than the issue is not the why the abortion... but rather is the baby less of a human at 2 months in the womb than at 5 yrs. If someone can convince me of that than I would be Pro- Abortion too.

No one can....the science is just not there!
